Nowadays we have to be careful with what we post on social media. Anyone can manage to get access and share information that you wouldn't necessarily want the world to see. Especially people that have a following such as celebrities, influencers, and political figures have to be careful about what they put on the internet. One such person is Jon Ossoff, who is currently running as a Democrat in an election in Georgia. According to this article, "Attack Ad Marks New Era For Millennials Running for Office," by Jessica Taylor, it mentions how because of Ossoff's young age considering he's only a thirty-year-old running for office. He has spent his fair share of time on social media and viewed as a frat boy because of his previous action in college. A video of Ossoff dressed as Han Solo in a Star Wars parody has resurfaced on the internet and now people think he is unfit to run for office. This is why people should pay more attention to what the post on the internet because it can used against them in the future.
Hi Shelly,
ReplyDeleteYou bring up a really interesting point with being careful about what we post on the internet. As a generation that has mostly had social media profiles since middle school, our posts from such a young age will always be online. Thus, many of us have been told to be very aware of this and be careful about what we post. This is especially true during the job hunt process, as employers can have access to our posts. This can inhibit us in getting a job if the content we share is not deemed professional or appropriate in a work environment.
Thank you for Shelly bring up a good example for us (as users), we need to aware of what we post and share from now on, it can hurt us. We all did something so serious at a very young age, but we don't realize our mistakes when we are growing up. After hearing and knowing about the loss of privacy, we definitely should be cautious when we are on the internet.
